Nothing can beat a warm, gooey and comforting dessert during the winter season.  Am I right or am I right??  I have JUST the recipe.  Sure, it’s not the most attractive looking pud, but the flavour proves that beauty does indeed, come from within; Within warm chocolate custard, within gooey toasted marshmallow, within soft, chocolate soaked brioche bread.  Within, within, WITHIN!

Now this recipe can be simplified...

Don’t you just love a good old juicy burger?  I was planning on making some homemade beef burgers for dinner but was all out of buns.  It was raining, so popping out wasn’t a favourable option, not with a one year old anyway.  So I checked my flour stock and sure enough, there was enough bread flour to feed the masses.  Right I thought, I’m making my own and I’ll go one up and make BRIOCHE buns!  I’ve always got loads of eggs...

With Christmas around the corner, it’s time to get my glad rags on.  And by glad rags I mean my apron.  As a keen self taught baker, gifting Christmassy bakes to my friends, family and neighbours is the perfect way to celebrate the season of giving.  These little stolen bites are ideal for packaging in gift bags and giving out to your loved ones.

I mean think about it. We all feel the pressure every December, or...

After making my first ever sourdough starter, it was high time I baked some sourdough pitas! After a little tweaking here and there, I’m absolutely thrilled with the results and I hope you’ll be too.

Thick, fluffy pitas, just like the ones from back home in Cyprus.  Apart from being the ideal side-kick for delicious souvlaki, they make a nice change to the ever so tedious square sandwich.  Plus you could dip them! Think tarama...

The sourdough adventures continue!  Well since I made the starter I figured I may as well bake the goods…

This time we’re going with sourdough bread.  Its superb toasted with a slather of butter and great to have with soup.  The sourdough starter gives it an unapologetically sour kick that really puts regular bread firmly in its place!

One thing I will suggest if you’re going to make this- invest in a banneton.  You c...

It’s taken me 5 years to pluck up the courage to attempt to make the ever so intimidating sourdough starter and the baked goods that can be made from it.  Well I’ve done it, and it wasn’t so scary after all.  I cannot tell you how much research I’ve done before finally doing it.  You’d be surprised to know there isn’t a strict guideline; the methods of making a sourdough starter are many! It just so happens that this method wo...

Never in my life did I expect to produce a bready savoury bake more exciting than pizza.  How wrong was I??!

I wanted to make a pizza like dinner but something that wasn’t actually pizza.  No, I’m not a weirdo I just like trying new things thank you very much!  So I began googling for a little inspiration.  Calzone?  No, boring.  Then I came across something called Stromboli.  That word rang a bell.  I could’ve sworn I’d heard...

‘The art of bread making can become a consuming hobby, and no matter how often and how many kinds of bread one has made, there always seems to be something new to learn.’

  • Julia Child

Well, there you have it- never a truer word spoken.  And here’s a recipe to prove it!  I’ve taken the humble bloomer and given it a little upgrade.  The secret ingredient do I hear you ask?  A stock cube.  I’ve used chicken, but you could try...

Don’t you find some of the best (or in this case most delicious) ideas come from a moment of spontaneity?  I’d already set myself my bread week challenge with my sticky toffee Chelsea buns and had no intention of making anything else Bake Off bread related in the same week.

But my, oh my, was I wrong.

I had chicken curry bubbling away in my slow cooker and the smell was seductive to say the least- high end curry houses eat your...

Its Bread week on Bake Off and the bakers have been rustling up their signature version of the classic Chelsea Bun.  So as per usual, here’s my take on them.  The hubby is a big fan of sticky toffee, I’m a big fan of cinnamon rolls, so I thought it was high time Sticky Toffee and Chelsea bun became pals.  And it works.  I mean it REALLY works.  They vanished from my kitchen counter within hours - which is handy as Chelsea buns...
